Mauro was born on July 4, 1934, in the small town of Ortona, Italy. In 1957, driven by love, he left his home behind and moved to Vancouver, Canada, to be with the woman who would become his wife, Maria. Together they built a beautiful life, raising a family and creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
Mauro was predeceased by his devoted wife, Maria, in 2012. He is survived by his two daughters, Doriana Richman and Rossana Whitmore, and his three cherished grandchildren, Cooper, Paris, and Mené, of whom he could not have been more proud. He also leaves behind his beloved brother in Italy, whom he loved dearly and held close in his heart throughout the years and the miles between them.
Canada's natural beauty captured Mauro's heart and kept him rooted there for the rest of his life. An avid outdoorsman, he found deep joy in fishing, and skeet shooting, passions he pursued with enthusiasm for decades.
But above all, Mauro was known for his kindness. He was a man who loved everyone he met and saw the good in every person. His warmth and generosity made him friends wherever he went, yet it was his family he loved most of all, and it was they who gave his life its greatest meaning.
Mauro will be remembered for his open heart, his zest for life, and the deep love he gave so freely to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and a family who will carry his memory forever.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1450 Delta Avenue, Burnaby, B.C. Entombment at the South Mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park, Burnaby, B.C to follow.
