Mildred Birkett

October 9, 1929 – November 7, 2021

Our loving, gentle Mom and Grandma was welcomed into heaven November 7, 2021.

Mom was 92 years old and was predeceased by her loving husband William Birkett and her siblings Gunner (Mildred), Esther (Roger), Lily (Cecil), Larry (Effie). Mom will be loving remembered by her sister Irene (Emile), her son Larry, daughter Theresa (Jeremy), and foster daughter Suzie (Mike). Grandma will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Zoey and Jack.

Mildred was born in Fairy Glen, Saskatchewan and graduated as a Registered Nurse in Moosejaw Saskatchewan fromProvidence Hospital. Mildred treated her future husband William Birkett (Bill) in Regina Saskatchewan where they married. They later moved to Burnaby where they became pillars of the community and raised a loving family. Mom and dad fostered many children some who remain family members to this day. Millie was a nurse at the Hudson Bay Company downtown, where she mended many wounds and hearts with her gentle bedside manner. Millie and Bill were strong leaders in Catholic Education both at Saint Helen’s Church and school and Notre Dame Regional High School for over 50 years.

We welcome you to a Prayer Service Thursday November 18th at 6:00pm followed by a Funeral Friday November 19th at 11:00am at Saint Helen’s Church 3860 Triumph St, Burnaby BC.

In lieu of flowers, Mildred has asked that donations be made to the Canandian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
