Leung Ming Shun was born on September 20, 1932, in Xinloufang, Danzhao Town, Foshan Nanhai County, Guangdong Province, China. After birth, he was raised in the countryside by his step grandmother, Zhou San Mei, while his parents lived and worked in Hong Kong. Ming Shun was the fourth child in the family, with three older brothers, two younger brothers, and one younger sister.

At the age of seven, Ming Shun was brought to Hong Kong by his step grandmother to attend school and enrolled in Tun Mui Primary School. During the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong, he returned to his hometown with his family to seek refuge. In 1947, he returned to Hong Kong with his mother to continue his education. He first studied English at Wah Shun English Night School, then passed the entrance exam to study at the Hollywood Road Government Morning School. Two years later, King’s College had completed renovations on its old campus on Bonham Road, and Hollywood Road Government School was moved into the King's College campus. In the 1954 School Matriculation Examination, Ming Shun achieved excellent results and advanced to Form 6. After graduating from Form 6, he worked as a bank teller at Standard Chartered Bank while continuing his studies. Eventually, he was admitted to the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He resigned from the bank, took up jobs as an evening schoolteacher and private tutor, supporting himself entirely without burdening his family. After completing his studies at HKU, he pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and applied to work at the Hong Kong Government Education Department. Upon receiving his offer, he began teaching at Queen’s College.

On August 13, 1963, Ming Shun married Ms. Wu Kit Yu. In 1964, their son Tze Wo was born, followed by the birth of their daughter Wing Yee in 1967. While teaching at Queen’s College, Ming Shun held the position of Assistant Education Officer and later transitioned to administrative work. In 1977, he was promoted to Senior Education Officer. In 1982, he resigned from the Education Department to become the Principal of Yan Chai Hospital Lim Por Yen Secondary School in Tsuen Wan. In 1985, Ming Shun immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, though he continued to return to Hong Kong for work. After the first cohort of Form 5 students graduated in 1987, he decided to retire and return to Vancouver to reunite with his family.

Ming Shun was honest, kind, and hardworking. Even after work, he continued to study French and German. He was deeply caring toward his siblings and devoted himself to his wife and children, a loving husband and father. Ming Shun had a passion for photography and travel, and his footprints spanned across all five continents. After retirement, he developed a love for gardening and lawn bowling and volunteered at Vancouver International Airport with his wife for twenty years. He found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, patiently teaching them to recite the Three Character Classic. In his later years, he remained actively involved in senior community activities, enjoyed cooking at home, and immersed himself in solving sudoku puzzles—a source of endless delight.
