Miye Iwabuchi of Vancouver, B.C. passed away on April 2, 2017 at the age of 93 after a brief illness. She is survived by daughter Patricia Mitsuko of Vancouver. She was predeceased by parents Yasujiro and Shika Yamada, her husband Masaaki, her sisters Teruye (Tamotsu), Aiko, her brothers Yukio (Kazue), Tatsuo (Sakaye) and Toshio (Sumiyo). Miye was born on September 22, 1923 in Maple Ridge and grew up in Haney, B.C. During the war years the family moved to Oak Bluff, Manitoba where her brothers worked on the sugar beet Farms. She married Masaaki on September 4, 1944 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and together with her family returned to Vancouver in 1955. Widowed in 1980 she continued to support her family and participated in her church activities. Since 2008 she resided with her loving niece Margaret in Surrey, B.C. Miye will be greatly missed by all her nieces, nephews and their families. Miye loved the simple things in life and was always recognized as a kind and gentle woman with a loving spirit towards family and friends.
