OBITUARY

Nancy Kirkpatrick

8 November, 1929 – 28 May, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Ocean View Funeral Home & Burial Park

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing in Burnaby General Hospital of our dear Mother Nancy of complications from a stroke. Mom was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Nellie Deda, her beloved husband Wallace in 1999, brothers Joe and Peter Deda and sisters Josephine Rittwage, Anne Amble, Betty Kuly and Doris Gibson. Mom is survived by her sons Wally (Michelle), Ken and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was born in St. Claude, Manitoba on November 8, 1929 the youngest of 7 children. She was 18 years old when she married the love of her life Wallace in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 2, 1948. Dad was employed by Canadian Pacific Railway relocating to Moose Jaw in 1954 from Winnipeg. Mom and Dad settled into their newly built home in Moose Jaw where their two sons were born in 1955. Mom and Dad relocated to Calgary in 1961. Finally they relocated to Vancouver in 1963. Having two small school aged children Mom did not want to relocate once again. As a result in 1965 they bought their Vancouver Killarney home which Mom lived in until she entered Long Term Care at the Royal Arch Masonic Home in the Champlain Heights area of Vancouver at age 90.

Throughout her life Mom was actively involved in the Catholic Church always volunteering her time. One fateful day the church asked for volunteers to work one day at the Hudson’s Bay Store in Downtown Vancouver. Her sons had already left home. Dad had retired so Mom eagerly volunteered and as fate would have it the Bay hired her. She rose to the position of Personal Shopper and had many stories to tell of the purchases she made for individuals who for one reason or another didn’t know what to buy the special people in their lives. Mom’s great passion was bowling where she won numerous trophies over the years. Mom enjoyed many activities and luncheons with her bowling friends actively bowling until she was 87 years old. Mom’s other passions were gardening in her yard, dancing, outings to movie theatres and travelling. Mom and Dad especially enjoyed the Hawaiian Islands and Mexico’s many resort beach cities.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all of the staff at the Royal Arch Masonic Care Home, along with all the Physicians and Nurses at Burnaby General Hospital who cared for Mom.

Interment with Dad at Ocean View Cemetery in Burnaby, BC.

REST IN PEACE MOM, TOGETHER FOREVER IN GOD’S LOVING CARE.
