Dearest Nika, 
It's been almost 3 months since you've passed away, and your spirit still shines brightly at Steve Nash Fitness World. Getting to know you within the past 3 years was such a privilege for me. I had never met someone so sophisticated and graceful, with a sarcastic edge. Attending your step classes, every Wednesday and having a conversation afterwards (ranging from 2 minutes to an hour) was always a highlight of my evening. I miss those times, and I miss you! Thank you so much for your belief in my talents, and I promise that they will not go to waste. You have been such an amazing individual, role model, teacher, friend and motivator that anyone who was lucky enough to be in your presence, should count themselves fortunate. Much love and respect to a courageous, spontaneous and loving fighter - Nika you are the best!!! May you continue to teach that step class in the sky!!

Dear Miwa,
You were my first friend.  As I stroll through the pictures in the gallery here I am reminded of your bright smile and  your brilliant personality.  In no small part, you were a role model for what girls should strive to be in life.  When our family spoke of you, we spoke of an already great person despite your young age.  We were all proud to hear of your accomplishments and accolades throughout your life and when we would congratulate you in person, your easy, happy and playful demeanor made it look all so easy.  Your charisma and fortitude inspired me to instill those qualities in my own children.  You gave us more than we could have ever imagined.  Thank you.  If there was any great decision I made when I was young, it was wanting to have you as my first friend.  The world has sadly lost a gem. You will be missed and remembered.

Nika was one of the best step aerobics instructors that I have ever known.  I have been blessed to know her for the last year as my teacher.  Every Wednesday night I looked forward to her teaching the class because she was such a wonderful teacher and had some of the best moves.  I will remember Nika for her warm personality and her cheerful laughter.  She will be greatly missed at Fitness World.    My condolences to Nika's family.

Dear Miwa,
We first met you as a beautiful baby in Calgary in 1969 and you have been a bright light in our lives ever since.   We have always considered you as a close member of our family along with our son Rich and Scott.  We had great moments together that will never be forgotten! Today we celebrate your magnificent achievements and time on earth and thank you for the joy you brought to our lives.  You were always a source of amazement and inspiration as you faced every challenge head on and triumphed by your intelligence, sheer determination, hard work and beautiful personality.   Your achievements were awesome and covered an incredible range from languages (English, French Japanese, Spanish then Chinese), academics, sports (hockey, judo, figure skating, gymnastics and fitness) and music (Certification from the Canadian Conservatory of Music). It is sometimes difficult to believe that one person could be so gifted, but then we all need to remember we are talking about Miwa!
Today in saying goodbye we thank you for the great joy you brought to our lives, and we are certain that you will rest in peace for all eternity.
