BA, MD CM, FRCS (C), FACS
(Sept 14, 1935- March 21, 2025)
Norman was born in Hong Kong, the eldest in a family of six brothers and sisters.
He attended Pui-Ying High School and received a scholarship to study in the US. He graduated from University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts (major in zoology).
He studied medicine at McGill University, where he met his future wife, Helena. They continued their post-graduate training in surgery and paediatrics in Kingston and Toronto, Ontario. After receiving his FRCS (C) and FACS, he had a brief practice in Renfrew, Ontario, where he started a family of two children.
In 1977, the family moved to Vancouver, BC, where Norman worked as a surgeon at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital until his retirement in 2003.
Norman’s love of the arts and photography inspired him to travel extensively around the world. He self-published over thirty travel photography books on Western civilization and art. He dabbled in water-colour and oil painting. Norman also loved classical music and played the violin for fun. Every year he organized a pre-Christmas concert at home.
Norman lived a full life. As a contemporary Christian, he returned to God at the age of 89½. He is survived by his wife, Helena, and his children, Adrian and Alison.
