

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Paolo Catania. He will be dearly missed and forever in the hearts of his wife of 56 years Anna; his daughter Vittoria; sons Nazzareno (Minna), Francesco (Wendy), Maurizio (Lisa); grandchildren Tamara, Tessa, Matteo, and Luca. Survived by brothers Tony (Luccia) Catania and Bruno Catania; sisters Pina DeFazio, Lucia (Bortolo) Rinaldo, and Carmelina (Augustino) Velenosi. Never forgotten by his nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives in Italy and Australia. Predeceased by his parents Nazzareno and Vittoria Catania. Born in Vibo Valentia, Italy, Paolo was a good and honourable man, devoted to his family, a hardworking bricklayer, skilled artisan, lover of the arts, and passionate supporter of Italian football. He will always be remembered as a hardworking, honest man with a kind heart and gentle soul. We will be forever grateful to the nurses and doctors at Burnaby General Hospital's palliative care for providing sensitive and compassionate care. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Bell and Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 525 Slocan Street, Vancouver. Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, South Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Burnaby General Hospital, Palliative Care in Paolo's name.
