OBITUARY
Patrick Kwong Man Wong
21 March, 1928 – 27 March, 2021
Patrick Kwong Man Wong passed away peacefully in his sleep, at the age of 93, on March 27, 2021.
Patrick was born in Hong Kong in 1928. He grew up with 6 siblings and graduated from Hong Kong University. After marrying his childhood sweetheart, Beatrice, he worked for the British Government. During his career he was twice selected by the government for further studies in the UK where he received two Masters degrees from the University of Edinburgh and the University of London. In 1962, Patrick was appointed Assistant Secretary of Chinese Affairs and Official Justice of the Peace; the highest ranking Chinese civil servant in the British Crown Colony.
In 1967, Patrick, Beatrice and their son, Andrew, emigrated to Vancouver, Canada. There, he worked for the Provincial Government at the Liquor Licensing Board and as the acting Deputy Rentalsman. Patrick retired in 1988 to pursue his three passions: traveling, ballroom dancing and bridge. He and Beatrice visited, danced, and played bridge in every continent except Antarctica. He was also a big fan of the University of Southern California, where his son graduated.
Patrick was a devout Catholic and lived a full and blessed life. He was a loving husband, great father and a revered grandfather. A big thank you to those who had kindly reached out to send their prayers, condolences, flowers and for sharing their fondest memories of Patrick. He is loved by all who came in contact with him and his memory will forever live in our hearts.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Beatrice, siblings Betty, John, Winnie and Cecelia, son Andrew (Julie), 2 grandchildren, Brandon (Sophia) and Erin.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the USC School of Dentistry where a scholarship will be set up in his honour.
