It is with infinite sadness that we announce the passing of Perpetuo Frianeza de Guzman, our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, godfather, cousin and friend.
Perpetuo was born on April 8th, 1941 in Embarcadero, Mangaldan, Pangasinan, Philippines. He emigrated to Canada where he lived for over forty years with his family. He passed away on February 20th, 2016 in Manila, Philippines.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 49 years, Angelita, his daughter Mylene, his son Joel (Erneida), as well as siblings Daniel (Ophelia - Karen and Mark), Irene (Edgar RIP - Christopher, Jennifer, Shaun), Modesto (Amelia - Tiffany, Tracey, Toni-Rose, Dominic), Lolita, Nieves and Nenita (Ramon - Paolo, Franz)
He is predeceased by his parents Innocencia and Domingo, his sister Paciencia (Jose RIP - Aurora, Bernardo, Cresilda, Rolando, Johnny, Marissa, Amanda, Ana) and his brothers Dionisius (Ludmilla - Dionisius Jr.) and Eduardo (Amelia - Edwin, Michelle, Denis).
Perpetuo was an alumnus of Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, graduating as a Mechanical Engineer in 1962. He emigrated to Vancouver, BC, Canada with his wife and two young children on May 11th, 1974 and settled in Surrey BC.
Throughout his career and through his life, he displayed a strong work ethic and intense devotion to his family and large circle of close friends.
Twenty years ago, Perpetuo survived a devastating stroke. In his recovery, and in the years since, his mind and spirit remained strong, and he bore the increasing limitations of his body with infinite patience, humor and grace. He was always joking, giggling and smiling.
Our father lived his life fully, happily and with no regrets. He loved our mother and our family so very deeply, worked hard and made sure that we wanted for nothing. He was kind, passionate, thoughtful, indomitably strong, jolly, courageous, generous and affectionate, and he raised us to be so, as well.
He was so loved and respected by so many, and we will all love him and miss him forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations to be forwarded to the Stroke Recovery Association of BC, Surrey and White Rock Branches, of which both Perpetuo and Angelita were active and beloved members for many years.
