her husband, Minh Ha, in 1998. Cherished mother of son Tom; daughters Trinh, Tu Le and Tina;
and sons-in-law, Eric, Ken and John. Proud grandmother of Samantha and Rosanna.
Phuong was born in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam to Teochew parents. She married Minh
during the Vietnam War in 1972, and together with their children and extended family, they
immigrated to Canada in 1985. She worked very hard as a new immigrant to provide for her then
young family. Not knowing how to speak English was never an obstacle for Phuong to go places
or get things done.
In recent years, she travelled to Hong Kong, China, Japan, Paris, Alaska,
Hawaii, California, and the Caribbeans. Affectionately called "Ah Fong" or "Fong Je", she was
known to her friends as an independent, generous, and helpful person.
She will be lovingly remembered for her giggly laugh and vibrant personality. She was passionate about flowers, cooking and getting together with friends for Chinese dim sum. She often prepared food and
gifted them to friends and relatives. Phuong ("Fong") will be dearly missed for her delicious Pho
and cooking.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home
in Burnaby. Funeral service will be held at the same location on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at
10 AM, with cremation arrangements to follow.
