peaceful passing of Ralph Robert Kinross on July 7, 2026 at the age of 95. Ralph was born in 1931 in Abbey, Saskatchewan, the youngest of three boys. The family lived in Port Reeve, Saskatchewan until they moved to Abbotsford, BC when Ralph was six years old, eventually settling in Mission, BC.
As a teen and young adult, Ralph was an avid soccer and basketball player in the local teams.
After a short career in banking, he accepted a managerial position at Whonnock Lumber Shake and Shingle Mill where he worked for 30 years, at Stave Lake and on the Fraser River.
He was respected and admired by coworkers, millworkers, customers, and management for his unwavering work ethic, fairness, and inclusion for all.
At the age of 31, Ralph found the love of his life, Norma. They married in 1963 and Ralph became a dad to Tracey and Susan at the same time. In 1965, son Robert was born and the new family was complete. Ralph quickly transformed from confirmed bachelor to committed family man, always volunteering to drive and pick up the kids for their many activities - band practices, concerts, soccer and rugby practices and games, and of course there were all the bottle drives, etc.
Throughout the years the family spent many happy times at their beloved cabin at Birch Bay. Ralph always seemed to be busy with a project on the go - with renovating, doing maintenance or yardwork - or he could be found relaxing on the deck with a cold beer!
Over the years, Ralph and Norma were blessed with granddaughters - Caralee, Leanna, Taryn, and Jessica, who they were so proud of and who brought them so much joy.
In time, the births of seven great grandchildren have become the next generation.
After his retirement, Ralph and Norma moved to the New Westminster Quay, where Ralph thoroughly enjoyed watching the boat and ship working activity on the Fraser River. As per usual, Ralph, not one to sit around, was active on the Strata Council, becoming project coordinator whenever needed.
Ralph is pre-deceased by his beloved wife Norma Kinross (2003); son-in law Lawrence Alder; grandson-in-law Cody Shreve; great grandson Masen Hein.
He is survived by his children, Tracey (Doug) Hein, Susan Kinross, Rob (Diane) Kinross; his four granddaughters, Caralee (Jason) Bergeron, Leanna Shreve, Taryn (Bill) Krause, Jessica Kinross; and his six great grandchildren, Dayln (Hanna) Hein, Aaron Hein, Madison Krause, Clea Bergeron, Finnegan Bergeron, James Krause.
A Celebration of Life for Ralph will be held on Sunday, July 26 at 11am at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St. Burnaby. A reception to follow, with a light lunch and refreshments.
