Raymond passed away at Chartwell Willow LTC in Maple Ridge on October 17, 2026. Predeceased by his lovely wife, Rita who he was married to for 51 years. Survived by, & greatly missed by his sons, Alex, Peter (Susan), Philip (Leanna), and Alan; daughter, Louise (Gerry); grandchildren, Michelle, Derek, Chloe, Kristine, Beau, Jordan, Taylor and Nicole; greatgrandchildren, Annabella and Katerina; sisters-in-law, Joey, Cecile, Audrey, and Irene. And many other relatives and dear friends.
Ray was born on Capitol Hill and remained a life-long resident of Burnaby. He became active in St. Helen’s Parish at an early age, and over a lifetime volunteered countless hours for the betterment of the parish and school. He was a long-time & dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, serving in many positions to further the interests of the Knights and was also involved in the Burnaby Heights Seniors Club.
Ray worked for G.H. Wood & Co. for over 47 years; he loved the job, his co-workers & the company, but valued his family, parish, and neighbourhood more, as he turned down offers for big promotions because they would have meant moving to Toronto.
Prayers will be offered on Monday, November 9, at 7:00 pm at The Chapel of the Bell & Burnaby Funeral Home, 4276 Hastings St., Burnaby. Father Lovato will offer a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, November 10 at 10:00 am at St. Helen’s Church, 3860 Triumph St., Burnaby, with interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Ray’s name to St. Helen’s Parish, or your local Food Bank or Senior’s Centre. Our family would like to thank the staff at Chartwell Willow for their compassionate care of Ray during his stay at their facility.
Bell & Burnaby Funeral Directors in care of arrangements.
