Romano Benci

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Romano Benci. Romano was born in Parenzo, Istria on June 5, 1937. He was preceded by his loving wife, Maria Benci (nee Russo), and parents, Andrea Benci and Francesca Benci (nee Marion).

Romano was a loving and supportive husband and father. On August 20, 1972, Romano married Maria and enjoyed 47 years together. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Rita Benci, and son-in-law, Kirk Pettipas. Dad was deeply musically inclined—he could play piano and accordion entirely by ear. He also had a great love of the written word, and was an avid reader and devoted crossword puzzler. He will always be remembered for his warmth, his gentle demeanor, and unwavering spirit of perseverance.

Funeral will be celebrated on Friday, July 24th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Terry Shea, Celebrant. After Interment, luncheon to follow at Ramie’s Greek Restaurant at 4287 Kingsway, Burnaby at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Paul’s Foundation, noting it’s for St. Vincent’s Langara Care Home at https://helpstpauls.com/.
