Rosa Gallo (nee Cimino) born August 6th, 1929 in San Giovanni in Fiore, Calabria Italy, passed away peacefully at home on May 26th, 2024 with her children and family by her side. She was predeceased by the love of her life husband Antonio, her first-born Maria and all her brothers and sisters. Rosa is survived by her sons Giovanni (Cathy), Salvatore, Saverio (Dawn), Massimiliano (Jacqueline); her daughters Maria Teresa (Giovanni), Franca (Pino), Ida (Anthony) and her cherished 11 grandchildren and their families.
Family was everything to Rosa. She worked tirelessly to raise and guide her children in Italy, always with a smile, laughter and love in her heart. Upon immigrating to Canada in 1979, she continued to be the strong role model and family matriarch in this new, foreign and unfamiliar land, all the while keeping her memories and roots in Italy. To her, her large family was the highest form of richness and gift from God, she cared little for material possessions. Rosa’s spirit and love of life will live in our hearts forever.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 4th at 10:00am at St. Michael’s the Archangel Parish, 9837 Holmes Street, Burnaby.
The service will be livestreamed at www.legacystreaming.com/dignity-burnaby/
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be directed to Covenant House and Stella Cometa Italy.
Thank you for the Journey, Mamma
You have left this world with the same dignity as you have lived your life.
Your deep devotion to Mary, Mother of God and the Holy Spirit has brought us peace and serenity as you took your last journey and that will make all the difference.
Your values never compromised by circumstances.
As you relinquished control over your physical being, you held strongly to your independence, and your mind became ever so focused and in control.
You taught us everything we know but most of all you have taught us to always care and deliver that care with empathy and respect to anyone in need of it.
We are who we are because of the love and encouragement you have given us.
Caring for you especially in the last 2 years has brought us much wisdom and joy.
We savoured the little pleasures of everyday life.
We had so many good discussions and so many happy moments despite your illness and because of your illness.
We will forever hold you deep in our hearts,
Your voice will continue to guide us always. Until we meet again, rest in peace mamma
Grazie
