Simo will be lovingly remembered by his children, Milena (Jovica), Diana (Mihajlo), and Djordje (Zorica); his seven grandchildren, Maja, Snježana (Igor), Lana, Natalija, Tiana, Anica, and Marko; his great-grandchildren, Filip and Sofia; many nieces and nephews, extended family members, kumovi, and friends.
Simo was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anica; his parents, Djuro and Sofija; and his brothers and sisters, Jovan, Mihajl, Todor, Milica, Ilinka, and Draginja.
Simo was born in Uzdolje, Dalmatia, in the former Yugoslavia. He married Anica in 1961, and together they resided in Split until 1992. However, they continued to spend their time between the city and Simo’s family home in Uzdolje, where he enjoyed tending to his farms, fields, and vineyards. Simo and Anica moved to Vancouver, Canada in 1997 where they were welcomed by their children.
In his spare time, he loved playing bocce and cards, as well as laughing and sharing stories of his cherished childhood. He enjoyed reading, watching sports on television, going on walks, and being in nature. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a source of great joy and pride for him—as he was to them. He held a special place in the hearts of everyone in his family, where he was greatly admired and respected, and he will forever be fondly and lovingly remembered as Dida.
