Mr. Simon Luk Sung Lam

peacefully on Nov 24, 2024, at the age of 84, surrounded by his family in Hong Kong.

Born in Chaoyang, China, Simon grew up during challenging times. Mentored by his

grandfather Lam Ka Tai, he developed a lifelong passion for jade appreciation. His

family later relocated to Hong Kong, where he contributed to his father’s publishing

company and later worked in its Macau branch. During these years, he forged enduring

friendships with his three closest friends and pursued creative writing together.

In 1965, Simon married Susan Fong Siu Ha, and together they raised two daughters

and two sons in a close-knit family. A devoted father, he provided steadfast support and

wisdom to his loved ones.

An entrepreneurial visionary, Simon founded a successful audio cassette

manufacturing company in the 1970s, expanding internationally to England and

Canada.

Simon’s passions included orchid cultivation, jade and Chinese painting collection, and

photography. His antique shop, which he named “Lok Shan Huen,” brought him

immense joy. A generous philanthropist, Simon donated to hospitals, universities, and

his hometown school, dedicating facilities in honor of his grandfather and wife.

Simon’s kindness and compassion touched the lives of everyone around him.

Despite battling cancer for over a decade, Simon displayed extraordinary courage,

never letting it diminish his love for life or his family. His legacy of love, resilience,

and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Simon is survived by his children Grace (Michael), Elina, Timothy (Amenda), Alex

(Karen), and his cherished grandchildren Sherman, Iris, Brendon, and Brayden.

林樂薪，原名林冰，廣東省潮陽縣人。自幼隨其一生最敬愛的祖父林嘉泰學習木工，並因

祖父薰陶而鍾愛古玉鑑賞。解放初年, 林氏家境貧困，作為長兄肩負父職，辛勤扶養弟妹

成人。後蒙貴人襄助，全家遷往香港定居。

來港後，林氏曾於父親經營的出版社任職，亦曾赴澳門工作數年。青年時期，與三位志同

道合的好友共住灣仔萬茂台，創作詩文，並在此結識摯愛伴侶方少霞。兩人婚後育有兩子

兩女，家庭和樂融洽。

林氏創業精神卓越，曾創立深美電業公司，從事錄音帶製造，事業蒸蒸日上，並拓展至英

國及加拿大。

林樂薪一生熱愛藝術與自然，精於古玉與書畫的鑑賞與收藏，亦專研蘭花栽培，對攝影藝

術亦有深入研究。晚年，他於皇后大道中開設古董店「樂山軒」，以分享其收藏與心得。

林氏樂善好施，廣受親朋尊敬。他曾舉辦古玉慈善拍賣，捐贈善款予大學及醫院；亦支持

母校潮陽市城南街道第三小學，捐建新禮堂與教學樓，並以祖父林嘉泰及妻子方少霞命名，

以表敬愛之情。

晚年，林氏與癌症搏鬥十餘年，期間坦然面對，展現對生命的熱愛與堅毅。林樂薪一生助

人為懷，行事低調，德行流芳，為後人留下深遠影響。
