Mrs. Siu Man Mok, 90, passed away peacefully at Vancouver General Hospital on November 3, 2022. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband U Kong Mok and leaves his son Winston, daughter-in-law Suzanne and two grandchildren, Gillian and Erwin.
Mrs. Mok was born in Hong Kong and studied to be an elementary school teacher. She taught English and Math at Tak Sun School for many years. Her husband was in business and believed in giving back to the community. He was Treasurer and Director of the Tsim Sha Tsui Kaifong Welfare Association. For his contribution to society, he and Mrs. Mok were guests at the Annual Governor's Garden Party, a touch of high society in colonial Hong Kong.
Mr. and Mrs. Mok moved to Vancouver in 1974, looking for a slower pace of life and better educational opportunities for their son Winston. Locally, Mrs. Mok worked at S.U.C.E.S.S. a Chinese service organization and at the Royal Bank before retiring.
Mrs. Mok loved her granddaughter and grandson and paid particular attention to their schooling. In return, they really loved their MaMa. Every time the grandkids told her about their Math trophies or school award certificates, she would be so proud.
Mrs. Mok enjoyed travel even into her old age. She and Mr. Mok took trips to Europe when their son went there for business. They wandered around Copenhagen, London and Paris on their own, discovering good local cuisine. They have also embarked on numerous cruises around the world, from the Baltics to the South China Sea. They had the added pleasure of having their grandson and granddaughter accompany them on cruises to Alaska and the British Isles, and on trips to the Rookies, Portland, Harrison Hot Springs and the West coast of Vancouver Island.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, November 14, 2022 in The Chapel of Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, British Columbia, with Committal Service to follow in Ocean View Burial Park's Dogwood Section. Lunch reception to be held at 2pm, in the Red Star Seafood Restaurant (8298 Granville St, Vancouver).
