Mrs. Wong Leung Siu Ngan, peacefully passed away on February 23, 2024, at the Villa Cathay Care Home, at the age of 101. Although the family is deeply saddened by the loss, they are also grateful for having shared many wonderful moments with her.
Mrs. Wong was born in 1924 in Shunde, China. During the Second World War, she fled from China to Hong Kong. Despite coming from a poor family and having only received primary education, she possessed a decisive and independent character. The couple worked diligently in the textile industry and started their own business in Hong Kong in 1958. Through their hard work and determination, they have nurtured three children to success. With the opportunities to deal with overseas business, they frequently traveled to different countries, broadening their horizons. They retired in the 90s, immigrated to Vancouver and lived happily with their two sons and grandchildren to enjoy their retirement.
Although Mr. Wong passed away in 2002, Mrs. Wong remained active and embraced life in Vancouver. She enjoyed social activities and was very amiable, which allowed her to forge many friendships. Her favorite pastimes included playing mahjong with friends and family, and performing Cantonese opera on stage, making her life vibrant and colorful. She was blessed with a large and loving family.
In Vancouver, Mrs. Wong actively participated in charity work, serving as a volunteer in the community, participating in fundraising activities, visiting various nursing homes, and contributing to hospital and disaster relief fundraising events. She was an angel, always ready to help others.
