Slavko Louis Skender

15 June, 195321 February, 2020

Slavko was the second of 4 children born in Croatia on June 15, 1953. Our dear brother, father, husband, family man, hunter, fisherman, gourmet cook, role model, can-fix-anything - guy, pet lover and best friend had gone into the arms of the Lord on February 21 2020. His incredibly loving wife Neneth, his darling daughters Skyla and Samantha, son Christopher, nephew Michael & niece Dianne, brothers Paul, Josip and John, and all the relatives and friends that meant so much to him can now cherish and remember him in their hearts. Whether making one of his phenomenal dinners for the family, picking up the girls from school, hunting “area 51” in Kamloops, fishing the rivers, or riding the quads around Loon lake, he excelled at all and was happiest when his family was involved, and that sums up the man we are going to miss so very, very much. Service and celebration of life can be seen below, and in lieu of flowers, kindly send donations to the BC Cancer Foundation.

I was sad to hear of the death of Slav. He was a distant friend, a friend who you knew would also be there if you needed him. A friend who would reach out to help you, didn’t matter if you wanted it or not. He will be missed. Deepest condolences to his family.

We were sad at hearing of our friend Slav,s unexpected passing. We would be there now but unfortunately I am out of country at the moment. I may have not seen Slav as many times in the last few years as I should have but every time we did his arms were open in friendship like we had just seen him yesterday. Times remembered most with Slav was in the the early 70,s, like driving in his Rambler and going to Olympia Pizza in Kitsilano with or without his brother Paul and chowing down on good food. Everybody that knew you will miss your no holds barred humour and honesty. Goodbye Slav.

As like everyone I've talked to, I am in shock and disbelief of Slav's passing. Ive known Slav since I was 14, we had many good times in our youth. Slav was one of those you think of as invincible. I haven't talked to him in some time and I'm so sorry that I missed out on some great conversations.
My deepest condolences to Slav's family and brothers.

R.I.P. my friend, see you on the other side one day.

Dear Cousin Slavko,
Thank you taking the time to meet me a few years back. Even though the time spent together was short , I enjoyed the time. My only regret is that l hadn’t found you and the rest of the family sooner. I wish I had more memories and time with you . I know you are in a better and most peaceful place . I will be seeing you again some day .
