Steve (István) Rostás

He leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Monika, his daughters Stefeni (Luke), Monika (Jas), Julia, Lidia (Dave), Erzsike (Gyula) and his two sons, István (Rachel) and Zoltan. His ten grandchildren Landon, Ryan, Mariska, Evangeline, Gavin, Julianna, Johnny, Eva, Sofia and Aaliyah as well as a sister and extended family in Hungary.

Steve (István) was born in Sajóhídvég in northern Hungary and was the eldest of three children. In 1956, Steve (István) emigrated to Canada. First to Ontario and then to British Columbia where he settled in Langley. Steve (István) had his own business running a hair salon for over 30 years and worked very hard to provide for his family. Steve (István) could also be found outside in his yard or garden where he spent many hours tending to and landscaping his beautiful back yard.

Steve (István) had a love of all animals and could often be found with his beloved dogs, Tiger and Zoe. The dogs faithfully spent every waking moment by his side. His last 10 years were spent with Monika travelling within the province, meeting friends of his children and enjoying life. Steve was an unforgettable person, always happy, generous, thoughtful and caring. He loved his family and always wanted them to remember, “Blood is thicker than water.”

His daughter Erzsike remembers him for his love of adventures and how he was a proud family man. His daughter Stefani remembers him for his love of life and caring personality. His daughter Lidia for his love of animals and his strong family bond. Julianna, Steve’s oldest granddaughter remembers his as an amazing grandpa even in the toughest moments. His love and compassion will live on in all his children and grandchildren.

Steve (István) was a very loving father, grandfather and husband. He will be deeply missed.
