Whenever I think of Susan, I recall a "sunshine" lady with very sweet smiles, full of energy and excellent in sports.  When we emigrated to Vancouver in 1998,  Susan & Peter joined Anissa & Kwan Ching to bring us for an outing at the beautiful seafront, with nice homemade food.   Really a very heartwarming welcome!  Since then, it's always a joy to meet Susan &  other uga friends at various gatherings.  Susan will be dearly missed.  May she rest in peace.

Susan was our lovely statistics tutor at the University of Hong Kong in 1973. She was kind, talented and patient. She was able to explain the abstract concepts in easily understandable terms and make learning fun to us. She did not only solve our academic problems but became just like a big sister, showed great care and provide guidance for us.  We have become lifelong friends. When she returned to HK last time, we had memorable moments of getting together.  Margaret also went on the Huang Shan trip with her and have a happy memory.

Susan and I have been best friends since high school years.  She was truly a blessing in my life, always so affectionate, sunny, thoughtful, reliable and motivating, offering help in good times and in bad times. She always stood out of others by her angelic character, vast talents, intelligence and admirable courage and optimism in overcoming life obstacles. Her memories and spirit will live within me forever in my heart.  My heartfelt condolences and prayers go to Peter, Tony, family and all her loved ones!

I first met Luk Shun-Ching at the HKU Student Union Building  sitting room. I was impressed by her bright smile and pretty face! We became friends since. She was such a lively, kind and sweet person that l really have to count my blessings for having her to be my friend! I still remember playing badminton and then dinner afterwards with her and other UGA friends in 2003 when l visited Vancouver. I also remember well she brought me 雞尾飽 and 墨西哥飽 when she and Peter came to visit me at Seattle, knowing that l could not get such delicious HK style buns. She was such a thoughtful person! 
I miss you Shun-Ching!  The only consolation l have is knowing that cancer can't torture you anymore. Shun-Ching, you are always in my heart. Bruce and I wish you smile and rest in peace!  We also wish Peter, Tony and all your love ones can take care and 節哀順變! Shun-Ching, see you in Heaven one day! 

I had the great pleasure of working with Susan from the early 2000's until my departure in 2012. We worked together on many projects, mostly involving network security. I relied heavily on Susan's incredible patience, attention to detail, and deep knowledge. I learned so much from her, not just on the technology, but how to effectively navigate to get to the best result, and how at the end of the day, it is people that make it work. She made everyone better. I was very lucky to have known and worked with Susan, she had a rare talent and sense of humour. My sincere condolences to her family and friends, I know that she will be greatly missed. 

Had the pleasure of working with Susan for many years on the operating systems, and systems team. She was such a bright, positive, smart and calm coworker - always smiling. A pleasure working on any project with her. 

So glad to have had the opportunity to see and talk with her at our occasional "oldtimers" group gatherings following her retirement.

Very sad to hear of her passing. My condolences to her family and all that were close to her - she was a wonderful soul. 


I had the honour of working with Susan at UBC IT between 2005 and 2008. I remember Susan with her friendly smile - she was kind, patient, dedicated, conscientious and a person of great integrity. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. My condolences to her friends and loved-ones.

I worked with Susan at UBC, and remember her skill and admired her calm and thoughtful approach.  She helped us with so many projects and I learnt much from her.  We would not have been successful without her.  When I think of Susan, I remember her laugh. 

I’m another former co-worker of Susan’s, and also had the pleasure of working with her now and then.  Susan was always so cheerful, so willing to help, and very knowledgeable.  She watched out for us and was at times like a big sister.  She uplifted whatever room or group she was with.  Her influence is still with me in my day-to-day work and I think of her often.  I am going to greatly miss her at our occasional little “old timers” get-togethers.  


It was with great sadness to hear on Susan's passing. Susan was a dear colleague and friend. She always had time for her colleagues, and would go out of her way to assist us. When my daughter was born, and my wife and I were lacking sleep with a newborn, Susan brought dinner for our family to allow us to rest further. I will always remember the cheerful, helpful, smiling, energetic Susan. God's grace be with Susan's family.

When I think of working with Susan at UBC, I remember her kindness, sense of humour, her calm approach to resolving complex technical challenges and the wonderfully supportive relationships she developed with all the people we worked with. 

As a friend, I owe Susan a great deal for being the kind of friend I strive to be for others. She was loyal and really cared about her friends. She loved her family and she loved nature. My favourite memories are our lengthy seawall walks which usually ended with sharing appetizers at a restaurant along the way.

Susan was a special person who will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

My name is Neil Twining.  I had the privilege of working with Susan on many projects up until my retirement from UBC'S Information Technology Department in the spring of 2014.   She was a wonderful person and I will miss her very much.  Thankyou for the opportunity to pay my respects.
