Slipped away peacefully in her sleep at home in the early hours of August 25th, 2026. She had recently celebrated a joyous 99th birthday with her children and grandchildren.
She was the epitome of a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children Guy(Reiko), Cheryl, Denise(Kevin), Leslie(Gary) and Sandy(Fred), and by her grandchildren Sean(Lisa), Erica, Natasha(Ruben), Kayla, Annika, Lian(Blaise), Kyle and Benjamin. She was predeceased by her husband Henry in 1989.
Aunty Sue was a favourite aunt and a second mother to many nephews and nieces. During her long life, she spread her love and generosity and hosted many gatherings for relatives ,friends and international guests. As an excellent seamstress, she spent countless hours sewing ballerina and Halloween costumes for her niece and grandchildren, as well as, dresses and outfits for daughters and herself. She even sewed countless cloth masks during the Covid pandemic. There wasn’t an alteration she couldn’t do! Her garden was always flourishing with vegetables and flowers, she loved seeing all the hummingbirds fly to her hanging fuchsias.
Sue was born in Victoria BC in 1927. She was the youngest of a large pioneer Chinese Canadian family. She lived through and adapted to a lifetime of social, political and economic changes with a positive attitude and sense of righteousness. She enjoyed customer service working at the Bay, and dedicated her time volunteering at the MacLean Park Preschool and Langara Long-Term Care. She will forever be remembered for being a humble, kind and caring person.
A life well lived.
A celebration of life will be held to honour her memory. For more information please contact Denise, 604-618-2258. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greater Vancouver Foodbank, https://foodbank.bc.ca/.ways-to-give/
