Mr. Tak Hau Quan

Henry Tak Hau Quan (November 9, 1938 – July 12, 2026), aged 87, of Vancouver, British Columbia, passed away on July 12, 2026. Born in Kaiping, Guangdong, China, Henry was the 4th of six children — five sons and one daughter — from his family.

On July 2, 1958, he immigrated to Canada, living and working in various small towns, including Moose Jaw and Whitehorse, before settling long term in Vancouver in 1970. He married Cissy Shui Yin Quan on September 23, 1967, and together they raised three sons, David, Stanley, and William, and a daughter, Lisa.

Henry worked as a sous chef at several popular restaurants and hotels around Vancouver, such as Blue Horizon Hotel, O'Douls Restaurant, Tommy O's Off Broadway, and Quarry House at Queen Elizabeth Park. Eventually he opened his own cafe on Broadway near Main St, named H&L Restaurant.

In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Dylan, Ashley, Nathan, Lucas, Cadence, and Olivia. He continued to prepare his great dishes for friends and family until Parkinson's started to take over his life. His other hobbies included playing MahJong with friends and family, socializing at McDonald's over coffee, and watching Chinese television shows.

Visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC, V5G 3M1, CA, on July 26, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

The Funeral Service will take place at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC, V5G 3M1, CA, on July 27, 2026, at 10:00 am.

The Committal Service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC, V5G 4A9, CA, on July 27, 2026, at 11:30 am.
