Thomas left us peacefully in the morning of October 23, 2026 at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife Liza, daughter Brenda (Brent), grandson Eric, son Andrew, and daughter Karen.
Thomas was a good man in every sense of the word. He embodied kindness and was always ready to go an extra mile with a helping hand. Born and raised in Hong Kong, he and his wife made the sacrifice of giving up the life they knew to immigrate to Canada in 1982, giving their children the prospect of a brighter future. With extraordinary patience, he was above all a devoted family man who worked hard to provide for those he loved. Many of his working years were spent on nightshift, which he did without a word of complaint. In retirement, Thomas made many friends singing, dancing, and cruising around the world with his wife. More recently, Thomas made new friends at his care home where he delighted staff and fellow residents alike with his quirky sense of humour.
One enduring lesson Thomas will leave with us is the importance of enjoying the simpler pleasures in life. A cup of coffee, a slice of garlic bread, and a simple card game on the computer are all that is necessary to turn an ordinary morning into a delightful one. Moreover, his children will always admire his uncanny ability to problem-solve by improvising with a home-made gadget à la MacGyver - DIY crampons, Tupperware repair, and a Swiss roll portioning device just to name a few.
There is no question Thomas left an indelible mark on all those who have had the pleasure of crossing his path. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
