It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cuong Van Nguyen (Jerry) on September 19, 2026, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the age of 47. Born on July 21, 1979, in Hai Phong, Vietnam, he immigrated to Canada in 1988, alongside his family when he was 8 years old.
He is survived by his mother, Bich Thi Bui; his father, Vu Van Nguyen; his siblings, Lien, Tay, Michael, and Peter; and his nephews, Taylor and Maverick.
Jerry found great peace and joy in being outdoors. He loved hiking, walking, spending time on the beach, and travelling to new places. He also enjoyed practicing yoga, listening to music across all genres, and telling jokes, but he had a true passion for writing, especially poetry.
A visitation for Jerry will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC.
The funeral service will be held at the same location on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
In place of donations, those wishing to honour Jerry's memory are welcome to write a letter to be placed with him or send flowers directly to Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC, by 2:00 PM on October 5, 2026.
