Born to Im Beom Soon and Kim Oh Mock as the third daughter in a family of four children, she was raised in Seoul, Korea, where she also met the love of her life, Warren Joonsuk Chang. The two were married on September 11, 1966, and together, they built a warm, loving partnership that would span 60 years and raised three wonderful sons: Seung-jhin (Lloyd), Seung-jun (Walter), and Seungkgu (Howard).
On May 19, 1974, Vivian and her family left the comforts of Korea and immigrated to Canada to start a new chapter in their lives. She and Warren found a home in Coquitlam, British Columbia, where the family made many precious memories together and developed lifelong friendships. During this time, Vivian worked at a computer keyboard manufacturing company, but then in 1989, she joined Warren in operating his jewelry store in Downtown Vancouver, working alongside him for 10 years until they both retired on January 31, 1999.
Afterwards, Vivian enjoyed a happy and fulfilling life pursuing her hobbies, such as ballroom dancing and playing golf. However, she found even deeper joy and purpose through her active involvement in the church and her growing faith in God. She served her congregation with joyful dedication and a steadfast faith, finding deep fulfillment in her service to God. She also served as president of the Women's Missionary Society three times—an experience that helped her learn and grow in many ways—and was later honored with the title of “Kwon-sa,” a respected lay leadership position in the Korean church.
Vivian’s life was characterized by her devotion to her family, diligence in her work, and a deep commitment to her faith. To her beloved husband of 60 years, her three sons and their families, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two more great-grandchildren who will soon join the family, she will be remembered with love for the life she lived and the lasting legacy of faith and service she leaves behind.
