Mr. Walter Ernest Giesbrecht

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Ernest Giesbrecht, after a courageous battle with cancer. Walter passed away peacefully, with family by his side, into the presence of his Lord and Saviour, on September 26, 2013 at the Burnaby General Hospital at the age of 77. Walter was born on June 4, 1936 in Coaldale, Alberta. Walter was predeceased by his father Heinrich Giesbrecht, mother Sarah (nee Driediger) and step mom Agatha, also by his brothers; Johnny, Peter, Frank and Jake, brother in-law Peter Klassen, and sisters-in-law; Alice Falk and Kay Braun. He is lovingly remembered by his dedicated wife Norma, son Michael, daughter Julie (Ed), and two precious grandchildren, Nathanael and Abigail. He is also survived by three sisters; Helen, Sue and Mary (Abe), three brothers; Hank (Kay), Bernie (Leah) and Ed (Nettie), sisters-in-law; Martha Giesbrecht, Gladys Haines and Ruth Johnson, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Walter will be forever remembered for his strong faith, love for his family, enjoying fellowship with people, and knowing someone wherever he went.

A Celebration of his Life will take place on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 11:00am at Willingdon Church (4812 Willingdon Avenue, Burnaby).
