It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of our cherished father. Bill was recently predeceased by his beloved wife Joan. He is survived by his 5 children: Anne (Jim), Jim (Alex), Jan (Brian), Bruce, Peter (Gina) and 10 grandchildren. Bill was born in Edmonton, AB but spent much of his childhood growing up on a sheep ranch in Keremeos. He was always focused on the importance of education and left a one-room schoolhouse at age 15 to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. Bill graduated from medicine in 1953 from The University of Alberta. He married Joan in 1954. He trained in England to become a plastic surgeon and returned to BC to start his practice. Bill was compassionate, creative and dedicated, helping many in his extensive career prior to retiring at age 70. Bill was very social and passionate about cooking for friends and family. He enjoyed travelling the globe with Joan, golfing, gardening and reading to improve his knowledge. Dad was a long time member of the Vancouver Golf Club. Bill had a strong faith. We will miss our loving dad’s warmth, guidance and gentle humour. A Celebration of Life will take place at Holy Trinity Anglican Cathedral (514 Carnarvon Street, New Westminster) on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be much appreciated.
