With great sadness we announce the passing of our father, Ying Pak Mak, on February 20, 2022. Dad was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Yee Har Tam. He is survived by his children: Grace, Sandy and Wilson, and son-in-laws: Peter and Rolando, and grandchildren: Anson, Wesley, Levi and Elisha.
Dad was born in Canton, China, on September 24, 1934. Growing up in a rural village, he enjoyed playing in the fields, swimming in the rivers, and climbing trees with his friends. After World War II, he and his mother moved to Hong Kong and later he went to Taiwan to finish his schooling. After graduation, he went back to Hong Kong to work. He liked travelling and photography at leisure.
In early 70s, he met his beloved wife Yee Har, and they got married in 1975 and started raising their own family. For better living environment and future for their children, dad and mom had decided to immigrate to Canada in1993 and resided in Vancouver with the help of his cousin Mr Poon. A few years after moving to Vancouver, dad retired and enjoyed gardening, practising Tai Chi at QE Park and meeting with friends for dim sum or coffee. Being the only child in his family, dad valued and cherished his genuine relationships with his relatives, schoolmates, colleagues and friends.
