Ann Froeschl Fails, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and respected professional photographer, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at the age of 91.
Born on August 18, 1934, in Shamrock, Texas, Ann lived a life marked by creativity, compassion, and dedication to her family and her craft. She built a distinguished career as a professional photographer in Austin, Texas, where she owned and operated University Studio. Through her lens, she captured countless meaningful moments for families across the community, preserving memories for generations.
Ann also shared her passion for photography by teaching at Austin Community College, where she inspired many aspiring photographers with her talent and patient guidance. Her artistic eye and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on both her students and clients. Ann was a dedicated member of the Soroptimist Club of Austin, a global volunteer organization focused on empowering women and girls through education. She was also a long-time member of the Texas Professional Photographers Guild, where she held numerous leadership offices.
Above all, Ann was loving, kind, and generous. She gave freely of her time, her talents, and her heart. Her family remained her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Gaines Froeschl of Buda, Texas; Denise Watson and husband Ben of Burnet, Texas; and Deana Stafford and husband Scott of Tow, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Heather Courtney, Lacy Huffstuttler, Adam Froeschl, Chase Watson, Andrew Froeschl, Zachary Froeschl, and Bradley Simon, as well as ten great-grandchildren.
Ann’s legacy lives on through the photographs she created and the many lives she touched with her gentle spirit. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
