Carlos W. “Carl” Pierce, 66, died at his home in Burnet on February 3, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 20, 1946, in Denver Colorado, to Ernest Pierce and Marie (Stanford) Pierce.
Carl graduated from Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Colorado and attended East Texas State University and San Diego State University where he studied accounting. He entered the Army Reserves in 1969 and served through 1974 in Colorado and Texas.
He married Kathryn (Kay) Convery in 1970 and they had two sons, Patrick and Gregory. In 1975, Carl and Kay opened a Motorcycle Dealership in Lake Jackson, Texas which they owned for more than 20 years before retiring to Austin and then Sugar Land, Texas.
Carl and Kay bought a ranch and moved to Burnet in 2001 where they have enjoyed living in the Hill Country. Carl worked at Inks Lake State Park, and loved to played golf whenever he could.
As a boy, Carl was always up for a dare... but was smart enough to have his older brother try it first.
He rode the Baja motorcycle racecourse several time with his dealer friends... that gave him years of stories to tell.
He went to St. Andrews Scotland and fell in love with the game of golf! He would come back from a good round and tell
Kay "I'm gonna quit my job and go on the tour"...followed the next day with "throw these clubs in the fire" when he didn't hit them long and straight. His finest hour was his Hole-In-One...with witnesses.
Carl was always ready to help with his friends, neighbors and strangers alike. He always saw the good in people...he felt everyone had something to offer. He was a great friend to everyone he met and no one ever stayed a stranger around him!
He loved his family, was proud of his sons and his grandchildren who could always bring a smile to his face.
Carl loved and cherished his wife Kay. She was his love, his strength and his best friend.....
Carl is survived by his wife, Kay, sons Patrick of Austin and Gregory and his wife Theresa of Grapevine, his grandchildren Ethan, Ella, Madeline and Connor, his brother, Carlton and his wife Barbara, two sisters Jan and Debbie and their spouses, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held and Rosary will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home beginning at 6:00 P.M.
