A memorial service will be held to honor Danny Sunday, Sept. 5 at Clement-Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Burnet with Bro. Stony Holbrook officiating and under the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home of Burnet. Visitation will be held beginning at 1 p.m. with services following at 2 p.m.
Danny was a long time Burnet County resident. He was employed by Lone Star Aggregates shortly after moving to Burnet in the 1960s. He followed his love for law enforcement and became a part time deputy with Burnet County Sheriff’s office. He then ran for and was elected Burnet County Constable Precinct 1, a position he held for many years before opening Danny Reid and Associates, a private investigation and security service in 2000. He was also affiliated with First State Bank of Burnet during the 1980s.
Through law enforcement he became involved in the Hill Country 100 Club. He worked tirelessly for the group’s goal of supporting law enforcement personnel in times of need and was recently named honorary lifetime director.
Danny became a Master Mason at Valley Lodge 175 in Burnet August 26, 1969, 52 years ago. He served as Junior Deacon, Senior Deacon, Junior Warden, Senior Warden and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was also a member of the Burnet Eastern Star Chapter and Worthy Patron in 1994.
Danny was an avid hunter and managed deer leases in Burnet County and West Texas for many years. Another passion of his was Quarter horses, producing award winning show, performance, and racehorses. His prized possession was his stallion, Big Bay Gil, an accomplished race horse that sired many of his herd.
Survivors include three children, Teresa Woods of Burnet, Pamela Will and husband Homer of Bertram, Kerry and wife Crissi Reid of Bertram; six grandchildren, Clint Will and wife Kelli of Bellville, Ian Woods and wife Katie of Bertram, Amy Woods Demerest and husband Mason of Horseshoe Bay, Zach Reid of Bertram and Ty Reid and wife Madeleine of Liberty Hill; four great-grandchildren, Colton Will, Carter Will, Dex Woods and Pyper Woods; and sister Gabriella Reid of San Francisco, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Charles Woods.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hill County 100 Club, Burnet Masonic Lodge/Eastern Star or the Hill Country Community Foundation.
