“Biscuit” as he was known to most, was born August 6, 1932, in Springfield, Illinois to parents Roy L. Burris and Hilma Emilia Helgeson.
He was a kind and caring gentleman who was very well respected. Biscuit served 30 years in the United States Air Force and lived the world over, serving our country through the years in many positions. He entered the Air Force in Chicago, Illinois July 13, 1953. Darrel served as a pilot during the Vietnam era and later as an Air Force attaché in Norway. He was discharged June 30, 1983, at Langley AFB Virginia. Among his many decorations and awards were the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, and Air Medal w/5 clusters.
Biscuit married the love of his life, Bonnie Jean Arrick in 1960 in Big Spring, Texas who preceded him in death in 2017.
Prior to his illness, he was an active member of the VFW in Burnet and a member of East Lake Fellowship Church in Silver Creek.
He was close to and so dearly loved his numerous nieces and nephews dearly and they loved him. Also surviving are close family members sister-in-law Sherri Wiesner of Burnet, brother-in-law John Arrick and wife Sidney of Odessa and sister-in-law Sonja Patterson of Austin. We will all miss Biscuit.
