October 11, 1946 – April 30, 2025
78 years… young.
Born at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Don grew up in the Spring Branch and Cypress areas, where his roots ran deep and his heart stayed true. He graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 1964 and, with a sharp mind and strong hands, went straight into a 4-year Electrical Apprenticeship Training School—laying the foundation for a future as bright as the lights he wired.
Don wasn’t one to sit still for long. In the late ’70s, with nothing more than grit, determination, and a service truck, he launched what would become his legacy: Performance Electric. Through sheer hard work and an unwavering commitment to excellence, he grew that little business into a thriving enterprise employing more than 75 people—eventually serving as President and CEO. He built more than just a business; he built a community of people who admired and respected him.
Around 2007, Don started easing into retirement (though, if you knew him, you know he never really slowed down). Not long after, on June 8, 2009, he married his true love, LeNita. Together they settled into the Texas Hill Country, first in Fredericksburg and then in Burnet—where Don found his little slice of heaven.
Don truly lived. He’s been around the world and back, gathering experiences, friendships, and stories along the way. He helped and touched the lives of so many, often in ways they’ll never forget. Whether he was keeping busy around the house, working the ranch, or volunteering at the hospital in Fredericksburg with LeNita and their beloved golden retriever, Harley, Don never missed a chance to make a difference.
A proud Mason, Don was raised a Master Mason over 50 years ago in Cypress Lodge #1423 AF & AM, a role he carried with deep respect and honor.
Don was preceded in death by his father, “Pop” W. G. Allen Sr., his mother, Marie Allen, his sister, Dottie Posey, and his brothers, Walter Allen Jr. and Ed Allen.
He is survived by his wife, LeNita Allen; his son, Donald Allen II, and daughter-in-law Dawn Allen; his stepdaughter, Kimberly Guillot and her husband Corey Guillot, and grandson Griffin Guillot; and his stepson, Jonathan Harmon. He is also survived by his brother, Ira Allen, and his brother/nephew Steve Posey and wife Jean Posey, along with many special nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
To know Don was to love him—and he was loved by so many. His generosity, humor, and unwavering spirit left an imprint on everyone lucky enough to cross his path.
Rest easy, Don. You’ve certainly earned it. We know you’ll keep spreading that good-hearted spirit and lighting up Heaven just like you did here on earth.
