She was born on January 4, 1925 to Irene (Morrison) and Oscar Trapp in St. Joseph, Missouri. Prior the the Great Depression, the Trapp family moved to Chicago, Illinois where Oscar began building his grocery business and Betty spent her childhood. Later in life, Betty met Robert (Bob) Wardle Bentley and they were married on October 5, 1946. Bob and Betty lived in Chicago for some time, then moved to Portage, Michigan where they purchased their family home on Winters Drive and started their family. A loving mother of five, Betty spent much of her time doing for others. She loved cooking, sewing and volunteering for her beloved church. Eventually Bob and Betty moved south to be nearer to family, built a beautiful home and settled in the Dripping Springs community. As a devout Catholic, Betty truly enjoyed the church fellowship and was devoted to her faith. She and Bob joined St. Martin de Porres Catholic church in Dripping Springs and became very involved in their congregation where they made many life-long friends. Following Bob’s passing, she moved to Austin and lived there for several years near her daughter.
In her final years, Betty returned to Dripping Springs and lived with her son. She was blessed with many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren who visited her often. Her friends and family were most important to Betty and she enjoyed life to it’s fullest. She will be truly missed by all who knew her beautiful soul.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her dedicated caregivers, Florence Dunn and Cynthia Rivera for their love and valued friendships. They would also like to thank her nurse and therapists at Texas Home Health, the lovely ladies of the church who offered her sacrament each Sunday at home, as well as the Lakeway Regional Medical Center and their staff for their unyeilding support in her final days.
