Formerly of Burnet, the family moved to California at the end of 2007 and it was in Santa Ana, California on January 15, 2008, that Gabriel and his mother were involved in a horrible car accident caused by a drunk driver. Gabriel suffered severe head trauma and was rushed into the operating room that day.
With many surgeries and many stays at hospitals in both California and Texas, Gabriel fought very hard to regain his ability and strength and enjoyed life as best he could. Gabriel was very limited as he was bed ridden from his injuries. Despite all these limitations, Gabriel graduated high school from Rouse High School in 2022.
As a special gift, an invitation from the Make a Wish Foundation was extended for Gabriel, along with his care nurse, his parents, and his little brother Matthew, to spend a day and night at Sea World of San Antonio.
Gabriel loved watching movies with his little brother, going to the park, and to All Abilities in Round Rock. This park had a wheelchair swing he could use to enjoy the time with his brother. Another one of Gabriel’s favorite places, which he loved to go to was Morgan’s Wonderland in San Antonio.
For the last several years, Gabriel was on hospice with pulmonary issues along with other health problems which caused his oxygen levels to become unstable. Unfortunately, our Heavenly Father welcomed our sweet angel Gabriel home at 9:30pm on May 22, 2022. He fought the good fight and finished his race.
Gabriel was preceded in death by maternal grandmother Cheryl Morgan Riley, his aunt Heather Morgan and his great grandmother Violet Pack Pafford, all of Burnet, maternal great grandmother Gwendolyn Griffin of Lampasas and paternal great grandmother Edith Smith of Seattle. He was also proceeded in death by his paternal grandfather Willis Clark Pace Jr.
Left to cherish Gabriel’s memories are his parents Scott and Jennifer Pace and brother Matthew all of Leander. Also paternal grandparents Victoria and Eddie Harvey of Burnet and maternal great grandfather Clyde Pafford of Burnet. Also grandfather John Morgan of Lampasas and “Papa” Bobby Riley. Also are surviving numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from all over.
The graveside service and interment following will take place at 10 AM Saturday May 28 at Post Mountain Cemetery in Burnet. Memorial contributions may be made to caringbridge.org or to your favorite charity or organization.
