James was a humble man seldom seen without his welding cap. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a skilled gardener and loved to share his vegetables with his friends and family. James attended Bertram Elementary and graduated from Burnet High School. He had many good memories of his childhood and liked to share his stories about showing sheep through FFA, spending time at the Bertram Horse Club Arena, and his summers hauling hay and stories of the friends he met along the way.
James leaves behind one brother Alva Watson and wife Eva. Three children: Justin Watson and wife Amanda, Jennifer Gray and husband Paul, and Janice Watson.
Grand Children: Jessica Baker, Alex Watson, Ella Rose Watson, Aaron Gray, Karl Gray and Sarah Gray. James was preceded in death by his parents Troy D. Watson and Nellie Watson Jones, Stepfather R.L. Jones, Sister Shirley Vaughn and her husband Richard Vaughn and brother Jackie Watson.
