

He enjoyed working with his hands and spent many years working in the concrete and general construction business. More recently, he found joy in creating furniture from cedar wood and doing ranch work. He also loved fishing and hunting, often sharing stories of his memorable fishing trips.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents John Valdez and Catarina “Katy” Escamilla Valdez, numerous aunts and uncles and his grandparents Ysidro De Avila Valdez and Mariana Guillen Valdez, and Pablo Escamilla and Micaela Gonzales Escamilla.
Johnny is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Hernandez of Lago Vista, Texas, his son Anthony Valdez and wife Susan Mize of Buchanan Dam and his daughter Heather Chambers and fiancé, Nathan Ellington, of Fort Worth, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mark Hernandez, Damieon Cavazos, Elan Fernandez, Kingston Earl, Holden Valdez, Austin Chambers, Logan Chambers, Serrie Valdez, Hope Valdez and Graceyn Chambers. Also surviving are brother Julian and wife Dena Valdez of Leander, Jessie and wife Juanita Valdez of Burnet, sister Irene and husband Micah Ditmore of Horseshoe Bay, and brother James and wife Cathy Valdez of Burnet. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, loving cousins and other family members and friends who will miss him.
Although his time on earth was not as long as we had hoped, we choose to hold onto the good memories he leaves behind.
Beginning at 5 pm on Wednesday, April 29 there will be visitation and then a brief service at 6:30 pm followed by a Rosary at 7 pm.
A private burial of Johnny’s urn will take place at the San Jose cemetery at Andice.
