She graduated from Marlin High School and spent her childhood in Marlin. She married John B. Henley in August 1945 and they settled in Robstown, where they raised their two children.
Lea was a stay at home mom and she enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and oil painting. She also sold real estate in Corpus Christi for a time.
After retirement, they moved to Highland Haven near Marble Falls. After John’s death in 1990 Lea moved to Burnet, where she was a member of the First Christian Church of Burnet.
She is preceded in death by her parents Freddie and Iva Ward, her husband John Henley, brother Ray Ward, sisters Coy Ward, Kathryn Ivy, Mildred Collier and Sue Knapp.
Lea is survived by her children Lynn Henley Wisdom and husband Jim of Burnet, John Ward Henley of Leander, sister June Rueter of China Springs and brother Paul Ward of Houston. She had 4 grandsons and 1 granddaughter as well as 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday July 23, 2018 at 10:00 am at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am with Charles Waugh officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Burnet.
