Ray spent his working years as a Union Carpenter and Millwright at Local 1266 in Austin. After 35 plus years he retired to Kingsland to fish and relax. He enjoyed his retirement by building Martin houses, gardening (when the moles would let him) and doing odd jobs for anyone in need. He could always be seen with his best friend Penny riding beside him in their truck or else following him in his footsteps.
Ray is survived by his wife Tammy, sons Ray Clements Hester, Robert Warren Hester, James Ray Hester and his daughter Julie Christine Hester. He is also survived by his brother J.C. Hester of El Cajon, California, and many cousins, nieces and a nephew in the Round Rock and Haskell area.
At Ray’s request, there will be no formal services. After his cremation his ashes will be scattered at a private family gathering. We will miss our best friend, husband, dad and master. His absence will leave a heaviness in our hearts.
We would like to thank the first responders of Llano County and the doctor and nurses at the Llano Memorial Hospital for their kindness and care for Ray and the family.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in Ray’s name to the Kingsland Volunteer Fire Department, First United Methodist Church in Burnet, Texas or to St. Richard’s Episcopal Church in Round Rock.
A memorial register is available online at www.clementswilcoxburnet.com
Arrangements entrusted to Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home Burnet, Texas.
