

Thomas Hampton Evans, 81 of Burnet passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010, in Kingsland. Tom was born June 5, 1929 in Houston, Texas to Horace W. Evans and Ethel (Weaver) Evans. He was a graduate of the University of Corpus Christi where he received a BA in education. He was also the author and composer of their school fight song. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burnet, a member the Rotary Club of Burnet and a past District Governor of Rotary International in Colorado. He enjoyed photography and once owned a photography business in Colorado. For a number of years Tom wrote hunting and fishing news for the Burnet Bulletin and the Highlander. He wrote and sang Ragtime and Gospel music, had composed a Christmas Cantata, and was a former City Councilman in Victoria. Tom was employed in Human Resources for the Dupont Chemical Co. before moving to Burnet in 1999.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Billy Evans and a grandson Jason Kellner. He is survived by his wife, Judith Evans of Burnet; two daughters, Nancy Kellner of New Braunfels and Judith Green of Waco; 3 step daughters Linda Speer, Kathy Smith, and Carol Nemir, all of Austin; three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, a nephew and great niece.
A memorial service in celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burnet with Reverend Dawn Rosignol officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rotary Club of Burnet for the benefit of Paul Harris Fellows or locally to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate).
