He married Glenda Lynch on April 4, 1959.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, step dad Everett Howard, sister Kathy Howard Roberts, grandson Kelvin Ischy and two nephews Mike Ischy and Don Ischy.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Glenda Lynch Ischy, daughter Aline Ischy Heine and husband Elton all of Bertram, sons Lee Ischy of Early, Gene Ischy and wife Cheryl, and Cody Ischy and wife Linda of Bertram, brothers Ronnie Ischy and wife Juanita of Lampasas, Lynn Howard and wife Wendy of Round Rock, Glenn (Buster) Howard and wife Vickie of Pilot Point, aunts Ethel Ames and Mary Jane Gonzalez, 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, special friends Mary and Dickie Allen of Bertram and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Thomas grew up in Bertram and was an All-District Line Backer in high school, he trained dogs while in the Army, he laid the Presidential Seal at the LBJ Library, and he did numerous hours of volunteer work. Thomas enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, he loved hunting, and fishing and shooting his bow and he loved playing with his grand kids.
The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Robert Graves, Deborah Turner, Beth Jacobs, Encompass Home Health, Kristin Sagebil and Dr. Alan Leifeste and office staff, Ronnie and Debbie Brooks and the Church of Christ in Bertram and our Bertram Elementary family and First Baptist Church of Bertram.
Graveside Service will be held Saturday January 4, 2020 at South San Gabriel Cemetery near Bertram at 2:00 pm, with Ronnie Brooks officiating. Pallbearers are Kyle Heine, Steven Ischy, Clifton Ischy, Garrett Vaughan, Ethan Morgan, Dillon Ischy, Tyler Dee Allen and Bradyn McPherson.
