Tommy was born Dec. 31 1945 in San Saba, TX to Grace (Kelly) Jones and Glen Owen Jones. Tommy grew up in Cherokee with his 5 siblings Jack, Pat, James (Jug), Ann, John and Sue. Tommy graduated from Cherokee High School in 1964, after which he went to Austin and attended barber school, a skill his friends and neighbors benefited from. Shortly after finishing barber school Tommy was drafted by the Army. When he returned from duty he tried several different career paths, one of which was the electrical trade.
Tommy met Virginia (Ginny) Ann Warner, of Lake Victor, TX on a blind date in February 1972 and they were married in October 1972. The first few years of marriage were spent in Cherokee where they ran the Cherokee Steakhouse together.
Their daughter Jill Margaret Jones was born 1974 and son Stan Warner Jones was born 1977 the family moved to Lake Victor 1978 where Tommy continued his career as an electrician. They bought an old house in Lampasas that Tommy cut in half with a chainsaw and moved to the Warner Ranch in Lake Victor. Here is where they’d live and raise their family.
Tommy was a great cook and always had a pot of beans going and a BBQ or a fish fry planned at the house for friends and family. Tommy always had a project, he was always building something. Virginia and Tommy raised both their children in Lake Victor and separated after the kids left, but stayed good friends always. He was quite proud of his children Jill an active community member in Lampasas and Stan a rancher in Oregon.
After retirement Tommy bought land near Lake Buchanan where he built a home, he spent several years at, Tommy worked part time at Wolf Creek Ranch by Lake Buchanan, and as always, he made many good friends out at the ranch. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren whether it was showing pigs or steers or rodeoing. In Tommy fashion he decided he needed a new project so he bought property in Lake Victor to be closer to family, here he built his final home. He enjoyed Lake Victor and appreciated his neighbors. Brad, Debbie and Donna were often coming by and checking in. Tommy and his closest friend David loved going to Fredricksburg for the horse races.
Tommy would drive to Oregon in the summers to visit his son Stan, and his family. He liked Oregon so much that in 2019 Tommy bought a small ranch in Adel, Oregon where he would build a little cabin and stay every summer working alongside Stan and his wife Carissa. Tommy made many friends in Oregon as well, they always looked forward to his return in the spring. He will be missed by many, near and far.
Tommy was preceded in death by his daughter Jill Jones Carroll, brothers Jack Jones, Pat Jones, John Jones, parents Glen and Grace Jones.
Tommy is survived by his son Stan and his wife Carissa Jones grandchildren Lane Cardenas, Taylor Jones, Tipton Jones, Jemma Carrol and McKenna Carrol.
