Arma Lois Shoemaker was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 6, 1921. She moved to Burney in 1943 while her husband, Gene Shoemaker, was serving in the Navy. They lived in Burney off and on ever since. For many years they owned the Shell Station in Burney. She was active in the Lion's Club and always enjoyed participating in the 4th of July parades.
Arma Lois passed away from natural causes at Mayer's Memorial Hospital Burney Annex on November 1, 2011 at the age of 90. She is survived by her 3 children, Gerry Zumwalt of Tucson, AZ, Buck Shoemaker and Tommy Shoemaker of Burney, 7 grandchildren, and 7 great grand children. There will be a graveside gathering on Saturday, November 12th at 10:00 a.m. at the old Burney Cemetery.
