The Lord, in his providential care, took his covenant child, Rev. Donald J. Vander Klok, at age 79, to be with him for eternity Sunday, November 21, 2021. Don is survived by his loving wife, Janice Vander Klok, with whom he just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Also surviving are his three precious children Brian (Sue) Vander Klok, Brenda (Terry) Stevens, Laura (Mike) Schellenboom; three grandchildren Jacob (Justine) Vander Klok, Emily Schellenboom, Jessica Schellenboom; two great-grandchildren Maverick Vander Klok, Kingston Vander Klok; stepgrandchildren William Russell and Dale Russell; sister-in-law, Carol Vandelin; brother-in-law, Randy Baxter; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Grace Vander Klok; sister and brother-in-law Nell and John Booy; parents-in-law Herman and Alberta Kamminga; brother-in-law, Jim Vandelin; and sister-in-law, Mary Baxter.
Don was a tool and die maker for seven years at Kelvinator and 30 years at General Motors Diesel. He retired at 56 years old to pursue his passion of faith and attend seminary full-time. He went on to preach for 20 years. Don was a 25-gallon blood donor. He was a member of Byron Center Protestant Reformed Church.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2021 at Cook Funeral Home - Byron Center Chapel, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Byron Center Protestant Reformed Church, 1945 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
