Doug married the love of his life, Judith Ann Sousley, in November 1964, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned more than six decades. He was a gifted athlete, earning All-State honors in high school football and continuing his athletic career as a scholarship player at Mississippi State University.
Doug was deeply committed to his community and family. He spent many years coaching youth sports, sharing not only his knowledge of the game but also his passion for teamwork and perseverance. He enjoyed playing softball and golf and found great joy in the outdoors. An avid outdoorsman, Doug had a deep appreciation for the beauty of God’s creation.
Above all, Doug was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He instilled in his children the values of strength, faith, and resilience, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue through generations.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Hanlon; children Tamera Kennedy (Bruce), Scott Hanlon (Jennifer), and Jeff Hanlon; cherished grandchildren Brie Kennedy, Jacob Hanlon, Emily Hanlon, Alex Hanlon-Moles (Caleb), and Garret Hanlon; and great-grandchild, Elnora Louise Moles; brothers Paul Hanlon and Ronald Hanlon (Sylvia). He also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family members who were blessed to know him.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents Carrie Ethel Hanlon and Lloyd David Hanlon; brother, Leroy Hanlon; and in-laws Martha and Ora Sousley.
Doug’s life was a testament to faith, love, and perseverance. We celebrate the enduring spirit he carried and the promise of eternal life through our Savior, Jesus Christ.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. We find comfort in knowing we will see him again in Heaven. Go in peace.
