I want to extend my Christian sympathy to Mary and the family.
With fond memories of wonderful conversations, I thank the  Lord for how he used Dave Schuringa to be of great encouragement to me when I was faced with difficult ministry challenges.  Your loved one was indeed, a wise, compassionate, Bible centered, servant of Christ.

I am sorry to read about David’s death in The Banner.  I talked to him shortly before he died.  We became acquainted  many years ago at the dental office where I worked.  I reminded him that many years ago he told me about Crossroad Bible Institute, where I have been a mentor for many years.  I thanked him for encouraging me to be a mentor.   
He was a kind person who loved the Lord.

Dear Mary and family,
On behalf of CORC (then Council of Reformed Charities) members past and present I express our sympathy with David's passing. We are grateful to God for David's friendship and his faithful leadership of CORC, and recall with such fondness the years both of you would join us at the annual meeting! Please know that CORC nation near and far are lifting up you and your family Mary in this time of loss, mourning...and gratitude to God for his gift in David.

I will always remember Dr. Schuringa for his unwavering support of his son and my friend and pastor, Greg.  Even as his health wavered, his support just grew and he watched every service he could, often reaching out to Greg with encouraging words and praise for his preaching and music.  I also personally felt that support years ago during the various visits to Faith CRC where he would talk to us on the worship team about his appreciation for our gifts and service.  I am thankful that his physical suffering is over, but I am saddened that Greg is losing a strong and faithful supporter of his ministry, and the great loss of a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many.

David was an excellent seminary professor who used his love for the Word, teaching of the Church, and passion for the Kingdom to inspire many students. I will never forget a phone call in January of 1991 from Dave that would change the course of my life. It led to a meeting in his back yard where we talked about the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word coming together to build Christ's church. Dave's vision captured my heart and a few year later we planted a church together. I praise the Lord for Dave's vision and mentoring me during those formative years and the fruit of his leadership.
I also praise the Lord for Dave and Mary and how they showed many young couples how to raise a family that follows after Christ.
We rejoice in knowing that Dave heard the words from His loving Father, "well done good and faithful servant!"

I was David's high school principal at Illiana Chr. in Lansing, Il. We connected then and again through Crossroads Prison Ministries where he was the CEO and I was a mentor to prisoners. He was always a godly and very intelligent servant of God and  my friend.  My sympathy to Mary and family!

This is Troy & Deb Meyer from Bunde CRC  in Minnesota.  Dr. Schuringa and the family and myself are like the Characters of Evangelist and Pilgrim crossing paths at different times.  It has been great experiencing the first years of College life with Greg & crossing paths with his family & mine a couple of times.  Thanks to both Mary & Greg & Sarah for your leading our Bunde Church as interim pastors both when I was only 5, and Greg, when we were starting our families.  What a huge impact God graciously gave to not only myself & my family, but so many others as well.  Dear condolences expressed to you at this time.  Troy & Deb.

Many in the Indian Prisons heard gospel via his initiative and the hard work. Staff back in India namely Mrs. &  Rev. AH were blessed to learn and apply the principles in India. We are sure about his being in glory and we hope to meet at Jesus’s feet. Our condolences to the family and friends. Yours- Indian section.

Dave Schuringa was the pastor who married Arnie and me. We will always remember him being a part of that special day. Arnie remembers him fondly as one of his pastors at Wellspring Christian Fellowship in Escondido, CA. That church, which Dave started along with Tim Spykstra, was a turning point for Arnie in his faith journey. We are so thankful for that ministry. I will always remember how Dave took Crossroad Bible Institute to the next level after my dad retired from that ministry. My sympathies to the Schuringa family for this loss. We love you all! I am grateful to have collaborated with Dr. Schuringa on the CRC Faith Formation Committee over a 7 year period, and also am grateful for the translations of Dutch sources that he shared with me.   His advocacy for prison ministry was used by the Holy Spirit to bless many lives on both sides of the prison wall.  May God bless and keep you all as you remember his life and bear witness to the resurrection.
