Jack Henry DeMaat

Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He exemplified and shared the love of Jesus to his family, friends, and church community. His love for his family was evident by his desire to spend time with them often. He faithfully attended church and led worship at Evergreen Church. Jack also enjoyed singing in the Kings Choraliers men’s choir which was another way he lived out his passion for worship and music. He retired from a career he loved at Andy Egan Inc. where he worked as a project manager.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Minnie DeMaat; brother-in-law, Ron Keizer; brother-in-law, Gord Laninga; and son-in-law, Randy Van Dyke. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Gloria DeMaat; children Brenda (Daryl) Van Dyke, Jodi (David) Scheltema, Tricia Van Dyke, Chad DeMaat, Tara (Quang) Nguyen, and Kimmi (David) Lagerway; sister, Laurie (Jeff) Gummere; sister-in-law, Marilyn Laninga; brother-in-law, Jerry (Marilyn) Keizer; and niece, Miya (Ryan) Schutter. He is also survived by his many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2024 (visiting beginning one hour prior) at Woodward Baptist Church, 2160 76th Street SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. Pastor Keith Foisy will officiate. Friends may visit with family from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center.

In memory of Jack, donations may be made to the family to go toward christian school building projects.
