

Judith Ruth Carpenter, age 76 of Byron Center, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 1, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Julia DeHaan; brother, Robert DeHaan; and grandson, Owen Gordon Carpenter. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gordon; their children Amy (Russ) Mudget, Leslie (Kevin) Grubbs, Gordon (Nichole) Carpenter, and Philip (Jill) Carpenter; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings Howard DeHaan, Gordon DeHaan, and Mark (Kathi) DeHaan; and her very special cousin, Jean Plaisier.
Judy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, going to concerts and sporting events. Judy worked for over 30 years as a transcriptionist at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a member at Byron Center Bible Church for over 50 years where she was part of the choir, the music ministry, and worship team. She was a member of Choral Society of Grand Rapids and the Metropolitan Choir of Praise.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Byron Center Bible Church, 8855 Byron Center Ave. SW, Byron Center, with an hour of visitation prior to services. The family will receive relatives and friends in the lower level of Byron Center Bible Church from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2025.
